All of our yoga class offerings are based on the teachings of the founder of Katonah Yoga, Nevine Michaan. Katonah Yoga is a structural practice that works the bones and joints, setting up proper form so that organs and glands are aligned for better function. These workshop-style classes inform you of how your body is designed to fit itself. Growth takes work and sacrifice. Katonah Yoga puts you in archetypal poses not only for relaxation, but for individual change that uses your body as your own personal roadmap. This repetitive practice allows us to work at the reformation, transformation and liberation of your body, leading to a more joyful you.

Katonah Yoga is a syncretic Hatha yoga practice developed by Nevine Michaan over 40 years. She and her teachers incorporate classical Hatha yoga with Taoist theory, geometry, magic, mythology, metaphor, and imagination in a practical framework designed to potentiate personal and communal well-being. 

Framing the practice, maps of time and personal space are defined and refined. Themes using asana as origami, manipulating form for function, and developing a sense of personal measure are all incorporated in Katonah Yoga practices.

Katonah Yoga Foundations Series (Beginner Friendly)

Participate in your own well being: all you have to do is show up! Whether you are new to yoga or have practised elsewhere, Katonah Yoga will be new to you. This class will acquaint you with a Katonah Yoga practice and theory at a slower pace. The workshop style classes incorporate asana, pranayama and physical adjustments in a safe, non-judgmental and welcoming environment.


Katonah Yoga Gentle Series

This class incorporates gentle movements linked to breath combined with postures (asanas) that are held for longer periods of time to target connective tissue and fascia. This class is designed to help students find space and relax the body and mind.

Therapeutic Private Yoga

Body reading is used to identify suitable supported and assisted postures to realign your body. The nurturing private sessions reorient the body to release deeply held stress, tension and emotions to create greater space in the joints and the body.

Sessions can be used to develop a home yoga practice to suit your body or to build confidence before joining group classes.
